Cabo Catoche is a point on the coast of the Golf of Mexico, located approximately 53 km to the north of Cancun. Geographically it belongs to the continental territory of Holbox island and belongs to the municipality of Isla Mujeres. Cabo Catoche marks the continental division between the Gulf of Mexico and the Antilles Sea and the south eastern limit of the Yucatan Canal.
A catholic temple, known as Boca Iglesia, was constructed near Cabo Catoche during the colonial period. There is no land access to Cabo Catoche, and the only way to visit the Ekab and Boca Iglesia ruins is by sea. This is an excellent area for observing whale sharks.
